Founded in 2008 as a wholly Zimbabwean owned company, Vortex Drilling started off solely in the borehole sector offering packages ranging from initial siting all the way through drilling and installation to maintenance services, The Company quickly grew into the powerhouse within the industry.
By 2013 the Vortex fleet had grown to include seven separate operating rigs and crews including the powerful Super Rock 5000, responsible for some of Zimbabwe’s deepest and most prolific boreholes. With thousands of successful borehole installations to our name, Vortex is an established household name. We manufacture our own unique pump anti-theft devices and bespoke tank stands for the installs department and developed the in-house expertise to fully install large-scale gravity tank, pressurized, and/or solar-powered reticulation systems specific to the Clients’ demands. The Company also started expanding into exploration drilling, offering both reverse circulation (RC) and rotary air blast (RAB) drilling services.
By 2018 Vortex had expanded further into the mining sector by offering complete blasthole drill and blast services. Fully licensed and with a seasoned team of skilled professionals, the drill and blast services quickly evolved to a 24-hour operation over multiple mines and are now a cornerstone of the Company framework.
During this timeframe, Vortex identified a large demand for more wholesome solar packages. With the mantra of a more sustainable approach to life and piggybacking off our expansive network of suppliers and in-house expertise, Vortex partnered with Endless Energy (www.endlessenergy.co.zw) to offer complete solar packages at affordable prices.
As of 2024, Vortex Drilling has 18 drilling rigs within the various sectors and employs over 100 personnel. Never stagnant, we have added piling and specialised foundations into our portfolio. With a squad of competent engineers at the helm, this has fast turned into another pillar of the Vortex group.
